MADISON, Wis. -
Wisconsin recorded its biggest win of the season on Sunday afternoon as it defeated Minnesota State 6-0 to split the series on senior day at the Kohl Center. The Badgers are now tied with Ohio State for third place in the WCHA entering the final weekend of regular season action.

Seniors contributed to four of Wisconsin's six goals and senior goaltender Alannah McCready (Blaine, Minn.) recorded her fifth career shutout in the Badgers' last home conference series.

"It was nice to see people rewarded for years of effort, time and sweat," Interim head coach Tracey DeKeyser said. "It was nice to have it end this way at the Kohl Center for the seniors, fans and families that traveled here."

The Badgers started off strong after recording the first goal of the game at the 2:45 mark. From behind the red line junior Kelly Nash (Bonita, Calif.) passed the puck to freshman Alev Kelter (Eagle River, Al.). With the man advantage, Kelter one-timed it past MSU's Alli Altman for her first career goal. Junior Mallory Deluce (London, Ontario) notched the secondary assist.

Not only was the Wisconsin offense on a roll, the Badger defense held the Mavericks to zero shots in the first seven minutes of play.

Senior Jasmine Giles (Ottawa, Ontario) tallied the second goal of the game and her 100th career point with 2:33 left in the frame. Sophomore Brooke Ammerman (River Vale, N.J.) passed the puck to freshman Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis.). Decker centered it to Giles who from between the crease and the right faceoff circle, one-timed it in to give the Badgers the 2-0 advantage.

Once again, the Badgers grabbed a pair of goals and outshot the Maverick's 15-6 in the second frame.

From in front of the blue line, A. Kelter took a shot and senior Kyla Sanders (Fort Myers, Fla.) redirected it past Altmann to increase the deficit to 3-0. At the 10:26 mark. Freshman Stefanie McKeough (Carlsbad Springs, Ontario) recorded the secondary assist.

"Alev shot the puck and I tried to keep my stick down and get in front. It tipped off and went in," Sanders said.

Less than three minutes later, Deluce passed the puck to Giles near the boards. Giles centered it to Ammerman who from the slot, sent the puck into the back of the net to record the Badgers' fourth goal of the contest with 7:12 left in the frame.

In the third period, sophomore Carolyne Prevost (Sarnia, Ontario) took a shot near the right side of the crease and freshman Breann Frykas (East St. Paul, Manitoba) capitalized on the deflection to make the score 5-0 at the 6:37 mark.

With 8:22 left in the contest, from the right faceoff circle, Deluce centered it to Giles in the slot. Giles solidified the 6-0 victory and recorded her third point of the game.

Wisconsin outshot MSU 38-14 and held them scoreless on seven power play attempts. The Badgers finished 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

McCready finished with 14 saves in net for the shutout win. Altmann and Paige Thunder combined for 32 saves for the Mavericks.

"It feels pretty good," McCready said. "Everyone was really excited and it wasn't hard to get pumped for the game today. We really wanted to end on a good note and make sure this was a special day."

Wisconsin wraps up conference play in a tough road test against the Minnesota Gophers from Feb. 19-20 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. Minn.
